Rain

Rain

Steam of coffee arises
From a mahogany table
White daisies in a blue pot stand
As a centerpiece of a delicate board
Ink paper and photos
Pile up a macabre allusion
Enlarged are black pupils
Shrunk are rigid nerves
Story unfolds
With autumn rain so cold
Superstition and whacky anecdote
Science and rationale
All tug in a red bowl
Mixed feelings tumble
Like droplets of tears
Flooding a parched basin
Desperate for moisture
On an island absolutely remote
